| The local Partnership works with many
different local agencies who provide services to children and families and works to
identify needed programs and services as well as resources to meet those needs. Often,
programs exist but are not being utilized. Sometimes duplication of services are noted.
The Partnership was formed to eliminate those duplications and fill the voids in the
service delivery system. By blending and
leveraging existing resources and providing funding through Smart Start - the programs
below are made possible to the young children of Northampton County. Child Care Resource and Referral
Director, Cathy Whitaker, 252-534-9921 CCR&R
is a community service which matches parents seeking child care with
child care resources. CCR&R
also provides training and technical assistance to child care
providers. In offering
these services, CCR&R gathers information about parent demand and
existing child care resources. When
there is a disparity between supply and demand, CCR&R seeks to
stimulate the development of needed child care resources.
Whether you are a parent seeking child care resources, a child
care provider seeking help with your work, employer trying to assist
parents in your organization, or a community organization involved
with children. Smart

Subsidy will continue to make child care affordable and accessible to
parents with children 0 to 5 years old, whose income is within or in
excess of the State of North Carolina's eligibility scale by no more
than 25% of the state median income. This activity will continue
to improve the quality of childcare in Northampton County for all
